Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation
NFSS runs a program on community based rehabilitation (CBR); a strategy within community development that encourages the use of local resources and participation of the community and family members in disability rehabilitation process. Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) staff is composed of professional; physiotherapist, occupational therapist, orthopedic technologist, social workers and community based volunteers. The team works on identification of Children with disabilities, screening and later arranges for their medical and educational assessment.
The rehabilitation clinics are located at Kibera and Waithaka where children with different conditions. The conditions that are administered in the clinics are celebral palsy, Down syndrome, hemiplegic, hydrocephalus, Deafblind/MDVI and delayed milestones. The emphasis in this program is to conduct early identification so as to plan for an early intervention to improve the child’s condition.
