Our Background

NFSS is one of the many Community Based Rehabilitation Programs established way back in 1982 as a self help project initiated through funding by Action Aid Kenya with an aim of reducing the effects of disability among children by allowing them to develop to their fullest potential by maximizing their integration to the community. The structures constitute the family members of the close relatives who are available in the training and development cycle of the disabled child.

During the first years the organization embarked in providing the information on disability to the family members and creating awareness to the larger community members so as to be aware of identification of these children from the community for early intervention. In December 1996, the organization was registered as a local NGO with the same mandate. The organization area of operation is within Nairobi urban slums mainly Kibera, Dagoretti. Kawangware, Mukuru and its environs.
